Holistic Development

Enriching your child’s development involves multiple facets, which is why we enhance our educational curriculum with a diverse range of extracurricular activities designed to suit various age groups. Our co-curricular program enhances learning, enabling your child to explore strengths, foster interpersonal skills, boost confidence, build character and enjoy some all-round fun.

Social Programs

As part of our co-curricular program, students can grow and advance while engaging in our social programs. Your child will cultivate life skills, enhance their social interactions, build friendships and experience an overall sense of wellbeing.

Interschool Structured Play

In the Junior School, students actively engage in purposeful interactions with their peers at Pacific Hills Christian School, participating in structured play sessions. These activities not only foster social skill development but also contribute to a vibrant and supportive school community.

Out and About

Every Monday morning our ‘Out and About’ program grows the independence levels of our students. They are supervised to learn to catch public transport, top up an Opal Card, do grocery shopping at a local shopping centre and enjoy morning tea together.

Endeavour Foundation

Our partnership with the Endeavour Foundation provides an opportunity for our Senior School students to gain work experience, explore potential career pathways and discover employment prospects.

Stop and Shop

All students participate in our Stop and Shop program that teaches them life skills. They learn how to set up a shop, use money, give change and learn about serving others.

On The Tools

On occasions, some independent students can join the Pacific Hills maintenance team, where they can engage in projects that allow them to gain hands-on practical skills.

Café Pacifica

On occasions, some independent students spend time learning to serve in the Pacific Hills onsite Café Pacifica.

Talk to us about the extra-curricular social program and other activities your child may qualify for, dependant on the independence level of the student.

As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

Excursions and Incursions

Learning is enhanced through our excursions and incursions linked to curriculum learning. Our students not only enjoy these opportunities, but they can better understand how their learning relates to the outside world. The multi-sensory rich and experiential nature of excursions and incursions create a positive experience for students, providing them with temporary breaks from the classroom and the opportunity to practice their social skills, cooperation and communication whilst reinforcing their learning.

Cultural Cooking

All our students enjoy cooking every week. They learn to plan, organise and prepare food to create nutritious and delicious meals. They are introduced to time management, coordination, teamwork, healthy food choices, social interaction and a sense of accomplishment.

Curriculum Based Excursions

We plan our excursions to visit one venue each term that relates to student learning. Junior School visit the Koala Park to learn about creation and animal care. Middle School visit the Powerhouse Museum to learn about Science. Senior School visit a local Chinese restaurant to learn the art of professional cooking and Food Technology.

Weekly Swimming Lessons

During Term 2 our students undertake weekly swimming lessons helping to learn water safety, refine their fine and gross motor skills, enhance coordination and improve physical fitness.

Incursions

Our incursions are valuable learning experiences for our students such as the Indigenous Infusion program teaching children about national heritage and insight into Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island histories and culture. Our students enjoy the fusion of storytelling, digeridoo, music and dance.

"GAME ON"

Once a year, it’s “game on” with our interschool basketball match. Our New Hope students play against their Valley Hope Christian School peers. They engage in a skill development workshop, fostering interactive engagement. They learn valuable lessons about teamwork, healthy competition and comradery. The experience improves their physical fitness, refines motor skills, engages them cognitively, enhances their athletic ability, and contributes to their wellbeing. Their self-confidence grows and they have a load of fun.

School Camps

Fun and Engaging

Our students value the experiential learning of School camps. Each year, our students in Years 3, 4 and 5 join their peers from Pacific Hills Christian School to engage in outdoor learning. Camps are well structured with predictable routines, engaging activities, learning, fun and spiritual development. Students are supported by our staff so they can enjoy the rich and positive experience of camp.
