Our Story of Hope
History of New Hope
Christian School
Since our establishment in 1979 we have been empowering students with learning disabilities on their educational journey.
In 1979 after a long search for a school which could accommodate the learning difficulties of their son, John and Robyn Odell along with other families undertook the initiative to establish a school for students who required learning support. They pioneered a school that was founded on Biblical values, with tailored teaching materials to support the students in a nurturing community. The school included mainstream students learning in community alongside the students with disabilities. This model is the prototype for the group of “Hope Schools” in the Pacific Group of Christian Schools.

Foundation and Leadership
New Hope traces its origins to a humble beginning with seven students spanning Years 5 to 10.
Established under the leadership of Dr Boyce (Principal) and Mrs Dianne Dowson (Director), our school embarked on a journey dedicated to nurturing students with Autism Spectrum Disorder or a moderate level of Intellectual Disability. From its inception, our founders laid the groundwork for a holistic educational approach, driven by a commitment to individual growth and development.
