Welcome to the new school year. I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new families at New Hope School this year. I hope that you find New Hope to be a caring and supportive community for you and your child.

Classes and new staff
We have three classes at New Hope School this year, NHS-F, NHS-M and NHS-H. These classes are taught by Mr Nathan Francis, Mr Daniel Mallison with Mrs Nicky Thompson and Miss Hutchins respectively.

Swimming Carnivals
Next week Pacific Hills Christian School hold their swimming carnivals for Junior School (Friday), Middle School (Thursday) and Senior School (Wednesday). If you would like your child to attend their swimming carnival and haven’t let me know yet (via email) please do so as soon as possible, so that we can ensure that you receive the information and a permission note. At present, we have organised for a New Hope School staff member to attend the Senior School Carnival. Similar supervision can be arranged for the other carnivals if necessary.

Meet the Teacher Evening
The New Hope School ‘Meet the Teacher’ evening will be held on Tuesday 14 February. The evening will be held in the New Hope classrooms and will commence with a combined session at 6:30pm and conclude between 7:30pm and 8:00pm. This will be an opportunity to find out some important information about your child’s school routines. There will also be an opportunity to book a time for your Individual Education Plan meeting.

Student Absences
The school requires a written note from parents to satisfy the NSW Department of Education and Communities regulations. To fulfil this obligation, please send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. advising the reason for the absence. Although it is not a requirement, it is helpful for teachers to be aware of a student’s absence at the beginning of the day which can be done with a quick email to the class teacher.

Kiss and Drop
The Kiss and Drop zone at school is a very busy place and requires a tight procedure to ensure it runs smoothly. We ask that parents/drivers stay in their cars and the New Hope staff will support the students as they enter or exit the vehicle.

As Pacific Hills and New Hope School are both growing, the process for allocating library times has become more difficult to organise. We hope to be able to inform you very soon of the library days for the students. In Library lessons, the students will have the opportunity to borrow books which can be borrowed for up to 2 weeks. To ensure that the books are well protected we ask that you provide a library bag for borrowing.
