Newsletter 2018 Term 4 Week 8

It seems hard to believe that we have come to the end of another year. I am grateful for all the staff at New Hope School and the commitment and care which they show to the students each day. The end of the year is often a time for farewells and at this time, we will be farewelling Mrs Stacy Whiteman. We wish her well in her new endeavours, although it is possible that we may see her return on a casual basis in her new teaching capacity. In 2019 we will be welcoming new staff including:

Mrs Jane Soper – Occupational Therapist (2 days a week)
Mrs Elizabeth Harris – Counsellor (3 days a week)
Mr Joe Pennington – Teacher Assistant (4 days a week)
Mrs Cheryl Sefton – Teacher Assistant (3 days a week)

As this is the last newsletter for 2018, I would like to wish all our school families a safe and enjoyable holiday and blessed Christmas.

Certificate Assembly and video presentation
Our New Hope School Certificate Assembly was a wonderful celebration of our students. The students performed well and those with speaking roles, also did very well. We were thankful to the many family members that came to honour the students at this event. As I mentioned in this assembly, we will be providing each family with a copy on a USB, of the photo presentation. We ask that you respect the wishes of some of the New Hope community and not share this online in any form of social media.

The Grinch
We are looking forward to our excursion to see The Grinch at Event Cinemas at Castle Hill next Tuesday 11 December. Students can wear their sports uniform as they may have the opportunity when they return to school to participate in their sports lesson. Please note that this excursion will be instead of having a class party this year.

Presentation Night
This is a combined event with Pacific Hills Christian School and will be held on the evening of 13 December, commencing at 6:15pm. A small selection of students from New Hope School will be receiving awards and their parents have been notified. It is not a requirement for all families to attend this event.

Carols Evening
The PHCS carols evening will be held on Monday 10 December on the school oval. The sausage sizzle will begin at 5pm with carols commencing at 6pm. There will be student and staff performances and communal singing. The evening will finish at approximately 7:30pm.

Class Placements for 2019
Notification of class placements for next year have been emailed to parents this week.
