Newsletter 2018 Term 1 Week 1

Welcome to the new school year. I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new families at New Hope School this year. I hope that you find New Hope to be a caring and supportive community for you and your child.

Swimming Carnivals
In Week 3, Pacific Hills Christian School hold their swimming carnivals for Junior School (Friday 16), Middle School (Thursday 15) and Senior School (Wednesday 14). If you would like your child to attend their swimming carnival and haven't let me know yet by email, please do so as soon as possible, so that we can ensure that you receive the information and a permission note. Supervision can be arranged for the carnivals where New Hope School students will be attending. These carnivals are Pacific Hills Christian School's events and although New Hope School students are invited to attend, the event caters mostly for those who are able to participate in the swimming events. New Hope School will function as normal on these days.

Meet the Teacher Evening
The New Hope School 'Meet the Teacher' evening will be held on Tuesday 13 February. The evening will be held in the New Hope classrooms and will commence with a combined session at 6:30pm and conclude between 7:30pm and 8:00pm. This will be an opportunity to find out some important information about your child's school routines. There will also be an opportunity to book a time for your Individual Education Plan meeting.

Student Absences
The school requires a written note from parents to satisfy the NSW Department of Education and Communities regulations. To fulfil this obligation, please send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. advising the reason for the absence. Although it is not a requirement, it is helpful for teachers to be aware of a student's absence at the beginning of the day which can be done by including the class teacher in the email that you send.

Kiss and Drop
The Kiss and Drop zone at school is a very busy place and requires a tight procedure to ensure it runs smoothly. We ask that parents/drivers stay in their cars and the New Hope staff will support the students as they enter or exit the vehicle.

Library lesson times will be communicated to you as soon as the timetable has been finalised by the Library staff. In Library lessons, the students will have the opportunity to borrow books which can be borrowed for up to 2 weeks. To ensure that the books are well protected we ask that you provide a library bag for borrowing.

Facebook group
The New Hope School community has a closed Facebook group for parents and staff. It can be used as a way to share helpful resources. New Hope staff may also post reminders about events or photos and feedback about events. If you are on Facebook, you are welcome to request to join this group, click here
