Newsletter - 2017 Term 4 Week 8

As this is the last newsletter for 2017, I would like to wish all our school families a safe and enjoyable holiday and blessed Christmas. I look forward to seeing you in the new year.

Certificate Assembly
We are thankful for the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our students on Tuesday. This was a wonderful event. The students shined in their performances and did very well in a number of speaking roles that some students were involved in.

If you would like a copy of the video presentation from the Assembly, please send in the USB we gave you last year, or a new one, by Tuesday 5 December. Please label this USB with your child’s name, or place it in a labelled envelope or zip-lock bag. We would ask that you do not share this video on social media for the privacy of our students, but to enjoy with family and friends in private.

Presentation Night
This is a combined event with Pacific Hills Christian School and will be held on the evening of 7 December, commencing at 6:15pm. A small selection of students from New Hope School will be receiving awards and their parents have been notified. It is not a requirement for all families to attend this event.

Community Participation Excursions
Today (Friday) we walked to the Salvation Army Store. The students enjoyed browsing through the array of items available in the store. There were some interesting purchases and the students were able to again practice using their communication and money skills to purchase items.

NHS Christmas Party, Tuesday 5 December
As there are Pacific Hills activities on the Wednesday that a few of our students are involved in, we have decided to change our party day to Tuesday 5 December. The party will commence at 12pm.

Could you please arrange to bring in a small plate of something your child would really like to eat at the party (suiting your own child’s dietary requirements) that could be shared. A few suggested party items include: fruit platter, cut up sandwiches, food that could be heated in our microwave.

We are expecting that some students would benefit from having their own lunch first prior to eating the party food and we will accommodate this need. However, it would be lovely if the party food could also include food that would satisfy students for their lunch.

2018 classes
Notification of class placements for next year has been emailed to each parent.

Reports
The Semester Two student reports will be mailed home early next week.

Carols Evening
The PHCS carols evening will be held on Monday 4 December, on the school oval (MPC if raining), from 5pm. BBQ, ice creams, Christmas treats & drinks will be available. Carols will begin from 6pm. The evening will finish at approximately 7.30pm. Bring a picnic rug and enjoy the night.
