Smoothies & Milkshakes Fundraiser

2017 08 24 new hope smoothies 02Throughout Term 3, our senior students participated in a Smoothies & Milkshakes fundraiser, as a school-based learning project. Students developed and demonstrated their skills in teamwork, completing tasks and seeking assistance when needed. The project operated over a period of six days, with a selection of smoothies and milkshakes made available to both staff and students of New Hope and Pacific Hills. The students organised and prepared a range of products to be used when making smoothies, such as fruit, and were required to set up their workstations ready for the lunch rush. They also had the chance to deliver orders to staff and practised their money handling skills.

Another goal of the project was to raise money to contribute towards the sponsorship of a child living in poverty through Compassion. We set a goal of $636, which covers the cost of sponsoring a child for twelve months. We are thankful to God for His provision in our project, as we raised more than the goal set. Thus, it is with great pleasure that we introduce Bryan Edenilson Lavia Galan – our sponsor child, from the Apopa region in El Salvador. We look forward to the ongoing support we are able to provide, both financially and through prayer for him and his family, and his Compassion project – the Amigos de Jesús student centre. Our New Hope students will have the opportunity to write letters, draw pictures, and take photos, to send to Bryan throughout the year.

Finally, we would like to thank the staff and students of PHCS and NHS for their support. We HOPE you enjoyed your smoothies and milkshakes!
